La Fonda was highly recommend to me by the locals of San Antonio! They sure did me a favor! This place is a gem on the side of a small street. The door has a really cool iron etched design! I was greeted and seated promptly. They had no indoor seating left, so I gladfully took a table outside. There are fans, which is great! My waitress Jordyn, she was the epitome of amazing customer service! She gave me salsa and chips + queso fundido on the house! The salsa was flavorful with a nice heat kick! The cheese was very smooth and tasty! I ordered the prickly pear spritz as my beverage, and it was both cooling and hydrating with a very unique flavor profile! Now, for my appetizer I ordered the spinach salad. It had crushed almonds and also sliced mandarin pieces! This salad was altogether fresh, delicious, and vibrant! I felt my energy levels elevating upon eating it. Now, onto the main shebang! The lobster and shrimp enchiladas! LAWD TAKE THE WHEEL! Okay, so these were highly recommended by my waitress Jordyn. Two enchiladas stuffed with shrimp, a big ole juicy lobster tail on top! Creamy corn rice, with a douse of chipotle sauce over the enchiladas! These were some very luxury enchiladas I tell you! The flavors were so wholesome, and the texture + the lobster meat and shrimp took this dish up to a whole other universe! Please, do yourself a favor and stop here if you happen to be in San Antonio!

3.8/5 Service here was great and I loved the ambience of this place. We sat on the patio and thankfully because they had fans out it was not hot at all. We got chips and dip--none of the dips were very spicy, but they went well with the chips. The lemonade was a bit too sweet for my taste, but the tartness was perfect. I ordered the chef special al pastor. The tacos were alright in my opinion--too much pineapple on the pastor and the tacos were not spicy at all. The salad that came with it was super delicious though--not too sweet and not too savory.

Wow! If you go to San Antonio, La Fonda is a must try Mexican restaurant. The ambience is quite charming and the old ancient tree on the patio is symbolic of this rich and old culture. The ambience gives off an 09 vibe and I'm intrigued. The food and drinks were so good. I had the Enchiladas Suizas. The chicken was so tender and the cream sauce brought the whole dish together. We also had the chips and hot sauce. A must try! I had the Flaca Margaritas and the Top shelf. All great fusions and a healthy pour. The service was perfect! We enjoyed Caesar and his thoughtful and helpful personality. Ask for him if you prefer exceptional service. Make sure to make a reservation. It's worth the trip here! We'll be back!

We met friends for a small birthday celebration. Our first time there and the service and food were amazing. We had Mitch and Jalen. And the best evening.

La Fonda is a San Antonio classic! The vibes on the patio during Texas Spring are unmatched and I think everyone that comes here should sit out there and eat at least once! A major pro for the location is that there is plenty of parking! I have never struggled to find a spot here because of the lot across the street. The con is the wait time, even if you do have a reservation. The waiting area is a bit small. I do love the food here! It's fancy Tex-Mex and approx $5 more in price point to some place like Chuy's. The chips and dip ($16) was a great appetizer and more than enough for two people. The poblano de queso ($17) was so tasty with flavors that all complement each other! I left feeling very full! I would go here again and recommend it if you are looking for a nice date place in SATX.

Lovely place and attentive waiters. The food was very good. But not spectacular. The salsa was pretty mild however they do have a habanero salsa you can request.

Came here solo on the recommendation of a friend who grew up in the area. The patio vibe is amazing!! I didn't have a reservation and was worried where I might be seated since I was alone, but was given a quiet corner in the furthest back patio section with a small fountain. I came around 6pm on a weekday and there were plenty of people but no wait. I began with a mango margarita and people watched as others filled my section. The chips & salsa were fantastic (make sure to ask for the unlimited refills) - the salsa is made with raw tomatoes and has the texture of bruschetta, very unique with a little kick. For dinner I ordered the camote (sweet potato) enchiladas - these were to die for!! Sweet potatoes & nopales inside, queso fresco & sweet potato shoestrings on top. The texture and flavor was outstanding. There were several other vegetarian options available and you probably can't go wrong. The service was also very friendly and prompt -- I see what all the other reviews were raving about! If you sit outside, do be prepared for the mosquitos to arrive a little before sunset. I got a couple bites in my last 20 mins.

I can't believe I didn't save room for dessert! I definitely need to go back one day and just order dessert and some coffee. We had a big party of 8, and unfortunately I can't remember which dish went with what picture. Therefore my apologies for not writing a description for all of the pictures. Everyone enjoyed their meals and said it tasted great. The service was great and our server check up on our group often and answered our questions and made suggestions. We sat in the terrace and the ambiance was nice, but it was so humid today. Luckily the Aguas Frescas helped with the thirst. This one was pineapple and toasted coconuts; it was so good! Now, with a large party the whole check was together and there is no way to split it, so you definitely need to take that into consideration if you are bringing a big party.

If you come to la Fonda on main, make sure you grab a seat outdoors because the back patio has such a nice ambiance! While it's ideal to come when the weather isn't too hot, there are some fans that keep a breeze going. There's even fly squatters that spin to keep the bugs away! The food is really good here, but nothing is earth shattering amazing. However, you definitely need to start off your meal with the guac, queso, and salsa (chips & dips)! I got enchiladas (a seafood one that's not currently on the menu at the moment), which were so delicious and had so many pieces of seafood. The tres leches cake was also perfect to end the meal. Pricing wise, the menu items are on the pricier end but definitely worth the experience and friendly service.

Then hundreds of good Yelp Reviews don't lie! Came here on a Saturday with a group of 4, they take reservations. They are known for their outdoor patio ambiance, so try and sit out there if possible! Environment: social, friendly, upscale casual with smooth music level $$ Worth: 4/5, servings are good for price, but appetizers were overpriced. Will always be upset when chips and salsa aren't complementary at a Mexican restaurant (slight joke) big enough to share or take home! Food: Well plated, delicious and good menu! Number of vegetarian options as well. Service: very attentive, fast and kind. Our server knew everything on the menu and answered any questions regarding the specials!
